Shaina, the founder of Leaves With You, will spend time with you to create a ritual that is unique for your family. Choosing the ritual package means that you, your family, and your friends will be given precious time to prepare for the funeral. Current mainstream funeral practices often rush the family and do not allow time for processing. This ritual is both a way to honor your loved one and can be a gift to yourself.
The natural dyes will connect with your story while honoring the Earth.
For each coffin Shaina makes, she creates completely custom, natural dyes. She gathers the plants to create the dyes from local, small farms and from your cultural region if the dye is unique to your history.
On traditional coffins and burials
Traditional coffins range in price—some are affordable while others cost tens of thousands of dollars. While some of these coffins may come little cost to you, the earth pays the price. These coffins are manufactured using non-renewable resources like steel and then lowered into a burial ground filled with concrete. Choosing Leaves means you are choosing the earth, the home that supports you and all of us throughout our lives. When you choose a biodegradable earth-centered coffin, you create a legacy. You are saying that in both life and in death, you are one with Earth and want to leave a better planet for future generations.

Leaves With You creates 100% handmade and biodegradable coffins woven with natural white, recycled cotton rope. Leaves With You makes 90% of the coffin, leaving the last few knots to be tied by the family as a way to infuse the coffin with their love. Each coffin package includes a one hour online session with Shaina, founder of Leaves With You, as a support for your personalized ritual and learning how to tie the knots.

Personalized Color – Biodegradable Coffin and Ritual
Leaves With You creates 100% handmade and biodegradable coffins woven with recycled cotton rope dyed with a color to amplify one’s life story. We make 90% of the coffin, leaving knots to be tied by the family as a way to infuse the coffin with their love. Each coffin package includes a one hour online session with Shaina, founder of Leaves With You, as a support for your personalized ritual and learning how to tie the knots. In addition, this package includes time with Shaina to create the custom natural dye that we will make for the coffin.

The Shroud Cover is a woven macrame blanket that covers a shroud, body, or coffin. This allows a family to have the healing experience and beautiful art of the Leaves With You coffin at a more affordable exchange. This Shroud Cover includes a one hour online session with Shaina, founder of Leaves With You, as a support for your personalized ritual and learning how to tie the knots.

Additional Rituals
When you choose a Leaves With You coffin and shroud cover, you can work with us to create an additional ritual for weaving the coffin and the End of Life experience. We will listen to your story and use macrame (knot tying) as a starting point for your personalized ritual. The Leaves With You macrame process can support and amplify any religious, spiritual, or cultural practices. Creating additional rituals holds space for a deepened experience of healing with grief.
